Successful IRS Nationwide Tax Forums 2015

December 30, 2015

Each year the IRS sponsors the Nationwide Tax Forums, a three-day series of tax education and networking conferences for tax professionals in cities around the country.

The forums feature the latest information from the IRS; news about tax law changes; the chance to meet with software vendors; and the opportunity to attend nearly 50 seminars presented by IRS employees and members of professional associations.

Seminars

TAS offered three seminars this year:

  • Advocating for Innocent Spouse and Injured Spouse Relief
  • Offers in Compromise: Advocating for Victims of Payroll Service Provider Failures
  • CDP Balancing Test: Advocating for Your Client Before the IRS Office of Appeals in Collection Due Process Hearings

You can read more about these sessions, and even if you weren’t able to attend, you can still get continuing education credit. IRS Nationwide Tax Forums Online (NTFO) has information on the 13 courses offered for credit, including TAS’ Offers in Compromise and CDP Balancing Test.

Case Resolution Program

At this year’s Forums, practitioners brought a total of 936 cases across the five locations, and 99% of those cases were resolved!

Make plans to attend the forums next year and bring your toughest case! Don’t forget – in order for your case to be looked at you MUST present a signed original or copy of your Power of Attorney (IRS Form 2848), authorizing disclosure of confidential tax information when scheduling an appointment.
