Want to stay in the know with what’s happening with TAS? Our mission is to reach taxpayers on social media to get information that will help you understand your taxes and your rights. With social media we can reach taxpayers who may not be aware of what the Taxpayer Advocate Service is and provide information to help you conquer your tax obligations. Help us spread awareness by following us on social media and sharing our content!
The Taxpayer Advocate Service cannot respond to private or public messages on any social media platform. Please do not share any Personally Identifiable Information (name, address, Social Security number, or tax issues) on any social media platform. We cannot accept or help with any tax issues through social media. If you are having a tax problem that you haven’t been able to resolve on your own, our Advocates may be able to help. Please contact your Local Taxpayer Advocate if you need tax assistance.
How to protect yourself on Social Media from Scams:
- Do not post your Personally Identifiable Information (Social Security number, name, address, phone number).
- Do not reply to anyone you do not know. TAS and IRS will never reach out to you on social media.
- If it seems too good to be true it probably is. Read our Tax Tips on the latest tax news and information including current social media scams.
