Activity 1: Increase staffing in TAS to continue to improve taxpayer service.

Activity Updates:

Activity 1: TAS hiring remains very limited. TAS will continue to fill critical vacancies to meet taxpayer needs.

1st Quarter Actions Completed

During this first quarter TAS experienced setbacks due to a hiring pause in late fiscal year 2024; however all other attrition-related hiring continued. Case Advocate (CA) hiring resumed, and TAS anticipated on-boarding approximately 100 CAs by the end of the second quarter.

2nd Quarter Actions Completed

All staffing and projected hiring was paused at the start of the 2nd quarter due to a government wide hiring freeze effective January 20, 2025. TAS is awaiting further guidance from Treasury and HCO regarding hiring resumption.
