2016 LITC Grant Period Now Open

May 4, 2015

Grant applications for Low Income Taxpayer Clinics (LITC) are being accepted from today through June 15, 2015. The program awards matching grants of up to $100,000 per year to qualifying organizations to develop, expand, or maintain a low income taxpayer clinic.

LITC employees and volunteers operate independently from the IRS. The clinics must provide services for free or for no more than a nominal fee.

Starting this year, all grant recipients must operate unified programs that (1) directly represent low income taxpayers in tax controversies with the IRS  and (2) use education and outreach to make their representation and consultation services available to taxpayers who speak English as a second language.

Organizations not currently receiving a grant, or whose multi-year grant ends in 2015, can apply electronically at www.grants.gov. Use the funding number TREAS-GRANTS-052016-001

Organizations currently receiving a grant for 2015 and requesting funding for the second or third year of a multi-year grant can submit the request electronically at www.grantsolutions.gov. Use the funding number TREAS-GRANTS-052016-001.
