Low Income Taxpayer Clinics awarded over $10 million in grants from IRS

March 30, 2015

The IRS has awarded approximately $10.25 million in matching grants to Low Income Taxpayer Clinics (LITCs) around the country. 132 organizations received grants for the 2015 grant year (Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2015).

The LITC program is administered by the Taxpayer Advocate Service. LITCs represent low income individuals in disputes with the IRS, including audits, appeals, collection matters, and litigation. Some also provide education about taxpayer rights and responsibilities to low income taxpayers and those who speak English as a second language (ESL).
