Successful Saturday Outreach Supports Taxpayers

TAS Success Stories

Every year the Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) helps thousands of people with tax problems. This story is only one of many examples of how TAS helps resolve taxpayer issues. All personal details are removed to protect the privacy of the taxpayer.

Taxpayers across the nation are receiving tax assistance from the Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) during special Saturday Hours events offered in partnership with the IRS Taxpayer Assistance Centers (TAC).

2023 marks the second year TAS is working jointly with IRS to extend tax help on Saturdays for taxpayers in need of assistance. The Saturday events makes it possible for TAS to reach people who are unable to go into the local IRS TAC offices during normal IRS business hours throughout the week.

The weekend events are successful for taxpayers and businesses who are able to get same-day answers to federal tax questions, check on their accounts, and resolve their tax issues. In specific cases where individuals or businesses experiencing an economic burden and need additional assistance, TAS can open a case to provide further assistance. When TAS establishes a case to assist you, we are with you at every turn and do everything possible to resolve your federal tax issue and protect your taxpayer rights. We call this process, Case Advocacy.

TAS has a heart to help and advocate for taxpayers! As a result, numerous taxpayers’ issues have been resolved. The Saturday events are a welcomed help for taxpayers and will be offered at various locations and dates: April 8 and May 11.

Visit www.taxapayeradvocate.irs.gov/saturdayhours for available times and locations. Bi-lingual tax assistance is also available to taxpayers who don’t speak English.

If you need to contact TAS directly, please call 877-777-4778 to speak with one of our intake representatives who will help identify how TAS can best advocate for you!

When working with the Taxpayer Advocate Service, each individual or business taxpayer is assigned to an advocate who listens to the problem and helps the taxpayer understand what needs to be done to resolve their tax issue. TAS advocates will do everything they can to help taxpayers and work with them every step of the way. Occasionally we feature stories of taxpayers and advocates who work together to resolve complex tax issues. Read more TAS success stories.
