On February 17, National Taxpayer Advocate Erin M. Collins testified to the U.S. Senate Finance Committee concerning IRS customer service challenges.
The National Taxpayer Advocate was one of three witnesses testifying.
“IRS needs to eliminate backlogs, pay delayed refunds, get current on its work, and return to taxpayer service and protecting taxpayer rights,” Collins advocated.
She also discussed the need for sufficient multi-year funding of the IRS to modernize its information technology systems and outlined her recommendations to improve tax administration.
